Thai Temptations 12 Days
Day 1 – Arrive Bangkok
Meet your guide on arrival at Bangkok airport and take a private guided transfer to your hotel.
Stay three nights at the Siam Heritage Hotel (superior room) or similar, in Bangkok.
Day 2 – Ayutthaya
(Seat-in-coach tour) Take an excursion to Ayutthaya, the former capital city of Thailand, to tour the impressive ruins of this World Heritage site. Return to Bangkok in the afternoon. (B,L)
Day 3 – Bangkok
(Seat-in-coach tour) Drive to Damnoen Saduak for the lively and colourful floating market. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this bustling market before continuing to the Rose Garden for a Thai lunch and cultural performance of dance and martial arts. (B,L)
Day 4 – Bangkok – Kanchanaburi
(Seat-in-coach tour) Drive for two hours to Kanchanaburi and the legendary River Kwai. Visit the Thai-Burma Railway Centre & War Museum, war cemetery and the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai. Take a long-tailed boat from the pier to your hotel, passing unspoiled mountainous scenery and majestic gorges. After lunch visit the Hell Fire Pass Memorial with a chance to walk along the original track of the Death Railway. Dinner is at the hotel, followed by a Mon Dance show. (B,L,D)
Stay two nights at the River Kwai Resotel in Kanchanaburi.
Day 5 – River Kwai
(Seat-in-coach tour) After a hearty breakfast, enjoy a morning of relaxation in this secluded paradise. Visit a Mon village this afternoon, which includes an elephant ride through the forest. Balance of the day at leisure. (B,L,D)
Day 6 – River Kwai – Bangkok
(Seat-in-coach tour) Morning at leisure to explore the beautiful natural surroundings of the resort. After lunch take an historic train ride on the Death Railway, passing lush forest and the original wooden viaducts built by prisoners of war during WW II. Return to Bangkok and arrive at your hotel early evening.
Stay one night at the Siam Heritage Hotel (superior room) or similar, in Bangkok. (B,L)
Day 7 – Bangkok – Chiang Mai
Leisure time until private transfer, without guide, to Bangkok airport for your afternoon flight to Chiang Mai. On arrival in Chiang Mai take a private without-guide transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure.
Stay three nights at the Empress Hotel (deluxe room), or similar, in Chiang Mai. (B)
Day 8 – Chiang Mai
Morning at leisure. Take an afternoon (seat-in-coach) city and temples tour of Chiang Mai. (B)
Day 9 – Chiang Mai
(Morning seat-in-coach tour) Drive north of the town to an elephant work site and see these intelligent creatures in action. Visit an orchid farm, and then a walk through Doi Pui to see the everyday life of the Meo hill tribe. Have a bird’s eye view from the vast temple terrace of Wat Phra Dhat Doi Suthep in the mountains above Chiang Mai. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Day 10 – Chiang Mai – Golden Triangle – Chiang Rai
Take a (seat-in-coach) guided transfer to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet on the mighty Mekong River. Stop en-route at a hot spring at Viang Pa Pao, then to visit Yao and Akha villages. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Mae Sai then visit the Golden Triangle before being dropped off at your hotel in Chiang Rai.
Stay two nights at the Imperial Golden Triangle Resort (superior room) or similar, in Chiang Rai. (B,L)
Day 11 – Chiang Rai
A free day. (B)
Day 12 – Depart Chiang Rai
Private without-guide transfer to the airport for your exit flight. (Flight not included) (B)
