    Day 1 – Arrive Hanoi
    Arrive Hanoi and take a guided transfer to your hotel.

    Stay overnight at the Essence Hanoi Hotel & Spa (deluxe room) or the Hanoi La Siesta Hotel & Spa (deluxe room) in the Old Quarter.

    Day 2 – Hanoi – Halong Bay
    In the morning, take the cruise company’s group transfer (a journey of up to 4 hours), without guide, to Halong. On arrival in Halong, board your boat for a cruise among the rocky limestone islands in the emerald waters of Halong Bay.

    Stay overnight on the Glory Legend cruise boat (deluxe en-suite cabin) on the bay. (B,L,D)

    Day 3 – Halong Bay – Hanoi
    Further cruising around Halong Bay this morning. Disembark and return to Hanoi and your hotel by the cruise company’s group transfer, without guide.

    Stay two nights at the Essence Hanoi Hotel & Spa (deluxe room) or the Hanoi La Siesta Hotel & Spa (deluxe room) in the Old Quarter. (B)

    Day 4 – Hanoi
    Morning Hanoi sightseeing includes the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Compound viewed from the outside, the Hanoi Hilton prison and the Temple of Literature. Afternoon at leisure. (B)

    Day 5 – Hanoi – Mai Chau
    Located in Hoa Binh Province, a scenic four hour drive southwest of Hanoi, Mai Chau offers a splendid vista of mountains and valleys surrounded by lush landscape and stilt houses, inhabited mainly by the White Thai ethnic group. Stop en route to visit Xalinh village inhabited by the H’mong hill tribe. Enjoy the cool mountain breezes on a two hour trail walk. On school days there’s the option to visit Pa Co primary school, where small gifts are always appreciated.

    Stay overnight at Mai Chau Lodge (deluxe mountain view room), or Sol Bungalows (deluxe bungalow) in Mai Chau. (B)

    Day 6 – Mai Chau – Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An
    In the morning, take a leisurely two hour cycling tour on local bikes through the beautiful valley of Mai Chau. Through your guide, chat with local hill tribe people to learn about their daily lives such as planting rice, herding buffalos and building traditional houses. Return to the hotel to freshen up before a direct guided transfer to Hanoi airport for a flight to Danang. On arrival take a guided transfer to your hotel in Hoi An.

    Stay three nights at Vinh Hung Riverside Resort (superior room), or Essence Hoi An Hotel & Spa (deluxe window room). (B)

    Day 7 – Red Bridge cooking class
    Make your own arrangements to arrive by 8.15am at Hai Café (98 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, downtown Hoi An, Tel 3863210), Red Bridge Cooking School’s meeting point, to join a group cooking class. Enjoy a welcome drink at Hai Café, followed by a visit to Hoi An’s colourful market to experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. You will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and learn about all the ingredients that will be used in the cooking lessons. Board the Red Bridge boat for a half hour cruise along the Thu Bon River past local villages to the cooking school. On arrival at the school, explore the herb garden before having your hands-on cooking experience, preparing a feast for your lunch. Return to downtown Hoi An by the school’s minivan and make your own arrangements back to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. (B,L)

    Day 8 – Hoi An

    Day 9 – Hoi An – Hue
    Late morning guided drive to Hue over the scenic Cloud Pass, stopping at Non Nuoc Beach and Marble Mountain en route.

    Day 10 – Hue
    Morning guided tour of Hue, visiting the Imperial Tombs of Tu Duc Emperor and the Royal Citadel with its Forbidden City. Afternoon at leisure. (B)

    Day 11 – Hue – Saigon – Cu Chi
    In the morning take a private transfer (vehicle with driver) to Hue airport for your flight to Saigon. On arrival in Saigon there is a direct private guided transfer to Cu Chi to explore the amazing underground tunnel system built by Vietnamese guerilla fighters during the war. Return to Saigon and your hotel in the afternoon.

    Stay two nights at the Grand Silverland Hotel & Spa (premier deluxe room) in Saigon. (B)

    Day 12 – Saigon
    Morning guided exploration of bustling Saigon with visits to the Presidential Palace, the War Museum, the Old Post Office and the Notre-Dame Cathedral viewed from the outside. Balance of the day at leisure. (B)

    Day 13 – Saigon – Ben Tre – Can Tho
    Leave Saigon for the watery world of Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Take a boat trip to see stilt houses and fish farms and try exotic fruits in one of many orchards. Visit a local farmer on Turtle Island then board a sampan to glide along the narrow canals overhung with dense vegetation, stopping for a cup of honey tea and a folk song performance. A lunch of local delicacies is served in My Tho. Travel on to Can Tho by road with your guide.

    Stay overnight at the Nam Bo Boutique Hotel (junior suite or main suite) in Can Tho. (B,L)

    Day 14 – Can Tho – Chau Doc
    Another early start, this time to cruise to the large floating market at Cai Rang with traders busily bargaining and exchanging goods on their colourful boats. Visit a noodle factory. Leave the boat at Cai Rang and travel by road with your guide to Chau Doc on the Cambodian Border.

    Stay overnight at the Victoria Chau Doc Hotel (superior room) in Chau Doc. (B)

    Day 15 – Chau Doc – Phnom Penh by speed boat
    Early in the morning take a short private guided transfer to Con Tien Floating Restaurant boat jetty for your Hang Chau speed boat’s upriver journey to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital (ETD 0730 hrs ETA 1200 hrs). On arrival at Phnom Penh International Floating Port jetty (103 Sisowath Quay, Phnom Penh) meet with your local guide and take a guided transfer to the hotel.

    Stay two nights at Hillary’s Boutique Hotel (deluxe room) in Phnom Penh. (B)

    Day 16 – Phnom Penh
    A tour of the city includes visits to the Central Market, the National Museum, Silver Pagoda, the Royal Palace, Wat Phnom, the Toung Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields. (B)

    Day 17 – Phnom Penh – Kampong Thom
    Morning guided drive to Kampong Thom. Witness traditional rural scenes, visit a local silk farm and Sambour Prei Kuk.

    Day 18 – Kampong Thom – Tonle Sap – Siem Reap
    Morning guided drive to Siem Reap. En-route visit Kampong Phluck a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake. Cruise the waterways observing the authentic and diverse lifestyle of the local floating community. Disembark to visit a traditional house on stilts. Continue to Siem Reap.

    Stay three nights at the Sokha Roth Hotel (deluxe pool view room) or the Somadevi Angkor Hotel & Spa (deluxe room) in Siem Reap. (B)

    Day 19 – Siem Reap
    Begin your exploration of the amazing Angkor temple complex with visits to South Gate of Angkor Thom and Bayon, Terrace of the Elephant and Leper King. Also visit the Old Market before returning to the hotel for a break. Later in the afternoon, return to magnificent Angkor Wat and remain at the site to view the sunset. (B)

    Day 20 – Siem Reap
    In the morning visit Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre, the birthplace of Khmer classical style architecture. Visit mystical Ta Prohm, unique for the overgrown roots of giant fig trees, then return to your hotel to refresh before and afternoon visit to the Rolous Group, including Preah Ko Bakong and Lolei. (B)

    Day 21 – Depart Siem Reap
    Free until private transfer (vehicle with driver) to your exit flight. (B)
