Day 1 – Australia to Hanoi
Fly with Vietnam Airlines to Hanoi. You will be met by your guide on arrival at Hanoi airport and transferred to your hotel.Stay two nights at the Hong Ngoc Dynasty Hotel (superior room) or Hanoi Elegance Ruby Hotel (superior room) in Hanoi.
Day 2 – Hanoi
Morning tour of Hanoi, visiting the One Pillar Pagoda, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Compound viewed from outside, the Museum of Ethnology (or the Temple of Literature), and a local market. Afternoon at leisure. (B)Day 3 – Hanoi – Halong
Halong Bay, a World Heritage Site, is comprised of over 3000 limestone islands soaring out of emerald green waters. In the morning take the cruise company’s 4 hour group transfer, without guide, to Halong and board your cruise boat for an unforgettable overnight cruise on the bay.Stay overnight on the Huong Hai cruise boat (deluxe en-suite cabin) in Halong.
Day 4 – Halong – Hanoi
Further cruising on the bay before taking the cruise company’s group transfer, without guide, back to Hanoi and your hotel.Stay overnight at the Hong Ngoc Dynasty Hotel (superior room) or the Hanoi Elegance Ruby Hotel (superior room) in Hanoi.
Day 5 – Hanoi – Hue
Private transfer, without guide, to Hanoi airport for your morning flight south to Hue. On arrival private transfer, with a guide, to your hotel. In the afternoon visit the Tu Duc Mausoleum and the Citadel.Stay overnight at the Cherish Hotel (deluxe room), or the Romance Hotel (deluxe mountain & stadium view room) in Hue. (B)
Day 6 – Hue – Hoi An
Leave the hotel in the morning for a guided transfer to Hoi An, visiting Non Nuoc Beach (Eastern Sea) and Marble Mountains en route. In Hoi An take a short guided walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit the local market, the former merchant’s houses and the 400 year old Japanese Covered Bridge.Spend two nights at the Green Heaven Resort & Spa (run-of-house room) or Van Loi Hotel (deluxe room). Day 7 – Red Bridge cooking class
Make your own way to nearby Hai Café in the Old Quarter (98 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Tel: 3863210) to arrive no later than 0815 this morning to join the Red Bridge Cooking School, selecting fresh produce from the market then preparing Vietnamese dishes for your lunch. Balance of the day is free to explore the old town. (B,L)Day 8 – Hoi An – Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels
Private transfer, without guide, to Danang airport for a flight to Saigon. On arrival there is a direct guided transfer to Cu Chi to explore the amazing underground tunnel system built by Vietnamese guerilla fighters during the war. Return to Saigon in the afternoon.Stay three nights at the Lavender Hotel (deluxe room) in downtown Saigon. (B)
Day 9 – Saigon
Begin your exploration of bustling Saigon with visits to the Presidential Palace, the Old Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and Ben Thanh Market. Balance of the day at leisure. (B)Day 10 – Mekong Delta excursion
Full day visit to the watery world of Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Take a boat trip to see stilt houses and fish farms and try exotic fruits in one of many orchards. Visit a local farmer on Turtle Island then board a sampan to glide along the narrow canals overhung with dense vegetation, stopping for a cup of honey tea and a folk song performance. A lunch of local delicacies is served in My Tho. (B,L)Day 11 – Depart Saigon
Leisure time until the departure transfer, without guide, for your overnight flight to Australia. (B)Day 12 – Arrive Australia
