  • Itinerary

    Day 1 – Arrive Hanoi
    You will be met on arrival at Hanoi airport and transferred to your hotel.
    Stay two nights at the Hanoi Pearl Hotel (deluxe window room) or Silk Path Boutique Hanoi (premium deluxe room) in downtown Hanoi.

    Day 2 – Hanoi
    A morning Hanoi city tour takes in the One Pillar Pagoda, the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum compound viewed from the outside, the Hanoi Hilton Prison and the Temple of Literature. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
    Optional: afternoon Hanoi Street Food Tour, $81 pp.

    Day 3 – Hanoi – Halong Bay overnight cruise
    A highlight of your visit to Vietnam is sure to be your overnight cruise on Halong Bay. Travel by coach to Halong, a journey of up to 4 hours. On arrival board your boat for a cruise among the rocky limestone islands in the emerald waters of Halong Bay. Seafood lunch and dinner are served on board.
    Stay overnight on the Aclass Legend cruise boat (deluxe en-suite cabin) or Swan Cruise (deluxe en-suite cabin) on Halong Bay. (B,L,D)

    Day 4 – Halong – Hanoi
    Further cruising around Halong Bay this morning. Disembark at Halong and return to Hanoi.
    Stay two nights at the Hanoi Pearl Hotel (deluxe window room) or Silk Path Boutique Hanoi (premium deluxe room). (B,L)

    Day 5 – Hoa Lu & Tam Coc Excursion
    Leave Hanoi for an excursion to the Trang An Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh Province. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, Trang An is famed for its spectacular landscape of limestone karst peaks. Visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu where the remaining temples stand surrounded by rice paddies. A skilled rower will take you on a slow journey on winding rivers and canals to Tam Coc, known as the “Halong Bay on Land”. Later cycle a short way on quiet roads through the local villages before driving back to Hanoi and your hotel. (B,L)

    Day 6 – Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An
    Transfer to Hanoi airport for the morning flight to Danang then transfer to your hotel in quaint and historic Hoi An. In the afternoon, take a guided walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit the former merchant’s houses, the 400 year old Japanese Covered Bridge and colourful silk and antique shops.
    Stay three nights at the Lantana Hoi An Boutique Hotel & Spa (superior room) or La Residencia (junior suite). (B)

    Day 7 – My Son Temples
    Morning departure from Hoi An on a scenic 1.5 hour guided drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre of My Son, the site of Vietnam’s most extensive Cham structural remains. My Son is the former capital of the ancient Champa civilization which ruled Central Vietnam from the 2nd to the 13th centuries. On arrival explore the 20 temple towers still standing today set in a verdant jungle valley surrounded by hills and overlooked by massive Cat’s Tooth Mountain. Return to Hoi An and arrive at your hotel early in the afternoon. Balance of the day at leisure. Your stay in Hoi An has been timed to coincide with the monthly Full Moon Festival tonight. The old town centre is closed to motor vehicles and beautiful lanterns replace electric lights. Locals converge to enjoy musical performances, games, vegetarian food and moon cakes. (B)

    Day 8 – Hoi An
    A day at leisure for shopping or exploring the old town centre. (B)
    Optional: morning Red Bridge Cooking School culinary experience, includes lunch. $62pp.

    Day 9 – Hoi An – Danang – Saigon
    Transfer from your hotel to Danang airport for the morning flight to Saigon. Meet your guide and travel by road to Cu Chi to explore the amazing underground tunnel system built by Vietnamese guerilla fighters during the war. Return to Saigon and your hotel in early evening.
    Stay three nights at the Grand Silverland Hotel & Spa (premier deluxe room), or the Paragon Saigon Hotel (deluxe room) in central Saigon. (B)

    Day 10 – Grain by Luke Cooking Class
    Morning at leisure. At 2.00pm join a group cooking class at the Grain Cooking Studio founded by celebrity chef Luke Nguyen and his talented team. Learn how to prepare some traditional dishes and then enjoy them at dinner in the studio. (B,D)

    Day 11 – Saigon
    A day at leisure. (B)
    Optional: Ben Tre In Depth tour of the Mekong Delta, includes lunch. $147 pp.

    Day 12 – Depart Saigon
    A day at leisure before a transfer to the airport for your exit flight. (B)
